JOHNSTOWN, Pa. – The Johnstown Chiefs announced that they have reached an affiliation agreement with the Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League and the Providence Bruins of the American Hockey League.
The Chiefs, who are also the ECHL affiliate of the Colorado Avalanche of the NHL and the Lake Erie Monsters of the AHL, were the ECHL affiliate of the Bruins from 1989-93 developing several players including Providence head coach Scott Gordon, who was the first ECHL player to play in the NHL after playing in the ECHL.
“It is a great honor to be with an ‘Original Six’ team. The Bruins have a rich history that is great to be a part of,” said Chiefs owner Neil Smith. “We look forward to a long relationship developing their players for the NHL.”
