Chiefs, Defenseman Knight Agree To Terms

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. – The Johnstown Chiefs announced that they have agreed to terms with defenseman Mike Knight.

The Chiefs are the ECHL affiliate of the Colorado Avalanche of the National Hockey League and the Lake Erie Monsters of the American Hockey League.

The 23 year old played last season in Italy and had 22 points (6g-16a) in 32 games.

The 6-foot-1 and 218-pound defenseman played in the ECHL as a rookie in 2005-06 and had 14 points (3g-11a) and 23 penalty minutes in 20 regular season games and eight points (1g-7a) and 28 penalty minutes in 13 games in the Kelly Cup Playoffs for Toledo while also playing for Greenville where he had nine points (3g-6a) and 57 penalty minutes in 33 games.

Johnstown celebrates its 20th Anniversary in 2007-08 and is the only one of the five original ECHL teams that still plays in the same city as they did in 1988-89. The Chiefs are hosting the Wheeling Nailers in a special Opening Day game which will be the only game played in the ECHL on Oct. 18.
