Cincinnati’s Hewitt Named ECHL Goalie of the Week

PRINCETON, N.J. – Cincinnati’s Greg Hewitt is the East Coast Hockey League Goalie of the Week for December 2-8.

Hewitt went 2-0 with a 1.00 goals against average and a .969 save percentage as the Cyclones wrapped up a 5-0 home stand.

Hewitt made 37 saves in an 8-2 win over Johnstown on Wednesday and then on Saturday he recorded his first professional shutout with 27 saves in a 8-0 win over Wheeling.

The 23-year-old Hewitt is 9-6-1 and ranks 10th in the ECHL with a 2.69 goals against average.

The 5-7 and 170-pound Hewitt was 20-22-15 with a 3.02 goals against average in 57 games with Mobile in the ECHL in 2001-02. He holds the ECHL record for most overtime/shootout losses in a season with 15. His 3,471 minutes played in 2001-02 are the second highest total in ECHL history. The 57 games ties Hewitt for eighth on the single-season list for most appearances by a goaltender.
