Clarke, Ludwig re-sign with Americans

Allen, Texas – The Kelly Cup champion Allen Americans announced that the club has re-signed defensemen Garrett Clarke and Trevor Ludwig to contracts for the 2015-2016 season.

The Americans are the ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League’s San Jose Sharks and the American Hockey League’s San Jose Barracuda.

Clarke is back for his third season with the Americans. He returned to Allen last year, after spending the 2013-14 season with the Central Hockey League’s Arizona Sundogs. Clarke had one of his best seasons as a pro in 2014-15 with 13 points (4g-9a) in 57 games, while racking up 205 penalty minutes.

Ludwig appeared in 66 games with Allen last season posting 15 points (7g-8a) and a +26 rating. The 30-year-old has 31 points (10g-21a) in 115 career ECHL games with the Americans and Idaho. A sixth-round selection (183rd overall) by the Dallas Stars in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft, Ludwig has seen action in 144 career American Hockey League games with Iowa, Manitoba, Texas, Norfolk, Syracuse and Houston tallying 18 points (4g-14a).
