Costello named CCM ECHL Player of the Month


Allen Americans’ forward Chad Costello has been named the CCM ECHL Player of the Month for April. It is the second time this season, and the third time in his career, that Costello has won the monthly honor.


Costello scored two goals and added 11 assists for 13 points in five games during April.


The 28-year-old had at least one point in each of the five games, and had three multi-point games. He tallied five points (1g-4a) in an 8-1 win against Brampton on April 3, had a goal and two assists in a 5-1 victory against Rapid City on April 10 and recorded three assists in a 5-2 win at Wichita on April 11.


A native of Johnston, Iowa, Costello led the ECHL this season with 125 points, 84 assists, 35 power-play assists and 44 power-play points while he was tied for second with 41 goals and was third in plus-minus at +43.


Costello has 264 points (89g-175a) in 165 career ECHL games with Allen, Ontario, Colorado and Texas. He was named the ECHL Most Valuable Player with Colorado in 2011-12 when he had 76 points (29g-47a) in just 47 games. He has added 17 points (3g-14a) in 40 career American Hockey League games with Bridgeport, Worcester, Springfield and Lake Erie.
