Countdown to Playoffs – Jackals look to clinch berth tonight

The Elmira Jackals look to clinch a berth in the 2011 Kelly Cup Playoffs tonight. Elmira can sew up a berth with a regulation or overtime win at Trenton, or with a win coupled with a Cincinnati regulation loss in a morning game at Kalamazoo.

The Jackals have gone 10-4-3 since Robbie Nichols took over as head coach on Feb. 16. Following tonight’s game, Elmira heads to the midwest where the Jackals visit Toledo on Friday and Kalamazoo on Saturday to conclude the regular season.

Two important games take place in the Pacific Division tonight. Bakersfield, which had its 11-game winning streak snapped at Las Vegas last night, visits Ontario, while Stockton hosts its home finale against Las Vegas. The Condors lead the division with 83 points, one more than the Thunder. The Wranglers sit four points off the pace. Including tonight, each team has three games remaining: Bakersfield visits Utah for games on Friday and Saturday while the Wranglers host Stockton on Friday and Saturday.
