Alaska Aces rookie forward Ethan Cox has been loaned to the Portland Pirates of the American Hockey League, Aces Head Coach Brent Thompson announced on Saturday.
Cox, 23, is in his first pro season. He has two goals and two assists with the Aces this season, and has been a premier penalty killer and face-off man for the team. The Richmond, British Columbia native was a dependable player for the last four seasons for Colgate University, and was named the squad’s best defensive player in both his junior and senior year. Cox becomes the fifth Aces player this season to play in the AHL. The others include defensemen Daryl Boyle, Steve Ward, and Chad Anderson, and goaltender Alex Petizian, who also played for Portland.
