Curry named Reebok Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Week


PRINCETON, N.J. – John Curry of the Orlando Solar Bears is the Reebok Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Week for Jan. 14-20.


The 28-year-old was 2-0-0 with a 1.92 goals-against average and a save percentage of .938 in two victories against Wheeling last week.


Curry opened the week with 36 saves in a 7-2 win over the Nailers on Thursday and followed that up with 25 saves in a 3-2 overtime win on Saturday.


A native of Shorewood, Minn., Curry has appeared in 30 games for Orlando this season going 16-10-2 with a 2.71 goals-against average and a save percentage of .912. His 16 wins are tied for second in the ECHL and he is second in the league with 1,681 minutes played and is third with 790 saves.


Curry has appeared in 38 career ECHL games with Orlando, Wheeing and Las Vegas posting an overall record of 20-12-2 with a 2.77 goals-against average and a save percentage of .910.


Runners Up: Jeff Jakaitis, South Carolina (2-1-0, 1.34 GAA, .957 save pct.) and Jordan Pearce, Toledo (1-0-0, 1.00 GAA, .953 save pct.).
