Daavettila named Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week

Trent Daavettila of the Colorado Eagles is the Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week for Dec. 16-22. It is the second time in Daavettila’s ECHL career that he has won the weekly honor.


Daavettila scored four goals and added four assists last week, helping the Eagles to a 2-0-1 record in three games at San Francisco.


The 29-year-old tallied two points (1g-1a) in a 6-3 win on Friday, notched three assists in a 4-3 shootout loss on Saturday and ended the week with a hat trick in a 6-4 victory on Sunday.


A native of Howell, Mich., Daavettila is on a nine-game point streak (7g-11a) since Dec. 6 and he is second in the ECHL with 33 points (12g-21a) in 28 games this season.


Daavettila has 303 points (100g-203a) in 289 career ECHL games with Colorado and Kalamazoo and he has added 56 points (16g-40a) in 43 games during the Kelly Cup Playoffs. Daavettila also has seen action in 19 career American Hockey League games with Adirondack, Grand Rapids and St. John’s, recording four points (1g-3a).


On behalf of Trent Daavettila, a case of pucks will be donated to a Colorado youth hockey organization by Sher-Wood Hockey, the exclusive puck supplier of the ECHL. Since beginning its sponsorship of the award in 2000-01, Sher-Wood Hockey has donated more than 29,000 pucks to youth hockey organizations in ECHL cities.
