Defenseman Button assigned to Royals

Reading, Pa. – The Reading Royals, ECHL affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League and the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League, today announced that defenseman Ryan Button has been assigned by the Boston Bruins from the Providence Bruins of the AHL to Reading.


Button, who hails from Edmonton, Alberta, has played two games with the P-Bruins this season and picked up two penalty minutes. Last year, Button registered 35 points (5g-30a) in the Western Hockey League, where he split the season between the Prince Albert Raiders and, after a mid-season trade, the Seattle Thunderbirds. Button, who was a third round pick of the Bruins in the 2009 NHL entry draft, joined the P-Bruins after the conclusion of his WHL season last year and played seven games with Providence, picking up an assist and two penalty minutes. Button, who registered 113 points (16g-97a) and 168 penalty minutes in 264 total games in the WHL, signed a three-year entry level deal with the Bruins in May of 2011.
