Defenseman D’Agostino joins Stingrays

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. – The South Carolina Stingrays, ECHL affiliate of the Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League, have signed defenseman Nick D’Agostino, Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Spencer Carbery announced.

D’Agostino has spent the last two seasons in the Pittsburgh Penguins organization. The 25-year-old split time between the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the American Hockey League and the Wheeling Nailers. During the 2014-15 campaign, D’Agostino appeared in 50 games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, notching 10 assists. He also added four points (1g-3a) in five games with Wheeling.

The Bolton, Ontario native was selected in the seventh round (210th overall) of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft by Pittsburgh and turned pro after skating at Cornell University for four seasons. With the Big Red, D’Agostino played in 132 career games, scoring 72 points (25g-47a) from the blue line. He was the captain of the team his senior season.
