Domingue heads back to Portland

Gwinnett Gladiators goaltender Louis Domingue has been reassigned by the Phoenix Coyotes to the Portland Pirates of the American Hockey League.

The Gladiators are the ECHL affiliate of the Coyotes and the Pirates.

Since returning to Gwinnett from his previous recall on Nov. 21, Domingue had stopped 151 of 157 shots faced in four starts, posting a 1-1-2 record, with a 1.45 goals against average and a .960 save percentage. On the season, Domingue ranks sixth in the ECHL in goals against average (2.01) and second in save percentage (.939).

The second-year pro made three appearances for the Pirates during his first call up this season from Oct. 30 through late November, picking up a win to go with a 2.40 goals against average and a .934 save percentage.

This is Domingue’s third career call up to the AHL. Last season, he spent part of February with the Pirates, appearing in two games and picking up his first career AHL win. Domingue was a fifth-round selection (#138 overall) of the Coyotes in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.
