ANCHORAGE, Alaska – After a team dinner the night before Game 3 of the ECHL Kelly Cup Finals, as the Alaska Aces headed out of a restaurant in North Charleston, S.C., center Alexandre Imbeault carried some goodies to go in a plastic container.
“Little dessert there, Alex?” asked coach Keith McCambridge.
“Gotta throw my weight around tomorrow night,” Imbeault cracked.
While Imbeault’s game isn’t predicated on Plexiglas-rattling hits, the second-year pivot from Montreal has ratcheted up his resolve in the playoffs, and that’s helped elevate him after a roller-coaster regular season.
As the Aces enter Thursday’s Game 6 of the Kelly Cup Finals against the South Carolina Stingrays at Sullivan Arena, Imbeault is tied for third on the team in scoring with seven goals, 12 assists and 19 points in 18 matches.
