Eagles bring back veteran defenseman Zimmerman

WINDSOR, Colo. – The Colorado Eagles announced that they have re-signed veteran defenseman Sean Zimmerman for the 2015-16 season.

The 6-foot-2, 200-pound defenseman registered 10 points (0g-10a) and 116 penalty minutes in 63 games last season for the Eagles. A native of Denver, Colorado, Zimmerman was a sixth-round selection (170th overall) of the New Jersey Devils in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft and has played in nearly 300 AHL contests during the course of his career.

In total, Zimmerman has appeared in 274 games in the AHL, with stops in Syracuse, Providence, Rochester, San Antonio, Lowell and Albany. In addition, Zimmerman was also part of the 2007 United States National Team that captured the bronze medal at the World Junior Championship in Sweden. His major-junior career saw the blueliner notch 59 points (10g-49a) and finish with a cumulative plus-minus rating of plus-17 in 270 games with the Spokane Chiefs of the Western Hockey League.
