Eagles re-sign Rodwell

WINDSOR, Colo. – The Colorado Eagles announced that they have re-signed forward Derek Rodwell for the 2015-16 season.

A fifth-round selection (144th overall) by the New Jersey Devils in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, Rodwell tallied 19 points (11g-8a) in 64 games as a rookie last season with Colorado.

Prior to launching his professional career, Rodwell spent the previous four seasons at the University of North Dakota. During his time in Grand Forks, the Taber, Alberta native registered 24 points in 123 games. He also helped UND capture WCHA championships in both 2011 and 2012, while being named to the WCHA All-Academic Team in 2012 and 2013.

The 25-year old enjoyed a very productive career at the junior level with the Okotoks Oilers of the AJHL, where he posted 101 points and 146 penalty minutes in 158 total contests. During his final season with the Oilers, Rodwell potted 53 points (18g-35a) in 55 games.
