Eagles strengthen blue line with addition of Marto

WINDSOR, Colo. – The Colorado Eagles announced that they have agreed to terms with defenseman Jake Marto for the 2015-16 season.

The 5-foot-11, 180-pound blueliner returns to Colorado after having spent the 2011-12 and 2012-13 seasons with the Eagles. During that time, Marto registered 31 points (5g-26a) in 87 games and finished with a combined plus-minus rating of +9.

A two-time national champion during his NCAA career at the University of North Dakota, the Grand Forks, N.D. native recently concluded a two-year stint playing professionally in Europe. He collected 17 points (6g-11a) in 51 games while playing for Sodertalje SK in Sweden during the 2013-14 campaign. Most recently, Marto generated 11 points (1g-10a) in 49 games with the Graz 99ers in Austria last season. In addition, Marto has also appeared in 14 AHL games with the St. John’s IceCaps, posting three assists.
