PRINCETON, N.J. – The ECHL announced that it has hired Mike Lappan as coordinator of hockey operations.
Lappan replaces Bill Scott, who was hired as manager of hockey operations for the American Hockey League.
Lappan will be responsible for the organization and release of team rosters, including the daily monitoring of contracts salary cap and player background while also overseeing all transactions, including trades, waivers, recalls and injuries. He will be responsible for the administration and tracking of all player fines and will assist with league and player immigration matters.
Lappan was an account executive for the San Diego Gulls in 2005-06. He worked as an intern for San Diego in the summer of 2003 and was also an intern for the Hamilton Bulldogs of the American Hockey League. Lappan played amateur and college hockey, leading Nickel Centre in the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey Association in points per game 2000-01 while also playing for Milford Academy in Connecticut.
The native of Levack, Ontario received his bachelor of commerce in sports administration from Laurentian University.
