GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Greenville Grrrowl announced that defenseman Brent Henley has been assigned to the team from Edmonton of the American Hockey League. Under contract to Edmonton of the National Hockey League, the 6-7 and 250-pound Henley is expected to be in the lineup for Greenville when it plays at Columbia on Friday. Greenville is the ECHL affiliate of Edmonton of the AHL and Edmonton of the NHL.
In 12 games with Edmonton of the AHL in 2004-05, Henley has 30 penalty minutes and two assists.
The 23-year-old Henley scored eight points (1g-7a) and had 255 penalty minutes in 49 regular season games and 34 penalty minutes in seven playoff games with South Carolina in 2003-04. He also played in the American Hockey League registering one assist in 12 regular season games with Toronto.
Signed as a free agent by Edmonton on August 8, 2003, the 6-7 and 245-pound Henley had 306 penalty minutes and 12 points (2g-10a) in 50 regular season games and four penalty minutes and one assist in four playoff games with South Carolina in 2002-03. He also played in the AHL, appearing in three games with Lowell and one game with Rochester.
