ECHL Community Recap

Colorado – Eagles' defenseman Jake Marto had volunteered to support MoDo, a local therapy dog and now the Official Therapy Dog of the Colorado Eagles, compete in the Annual Doggie Olympics at a park in Fort Collins.  Unfortunately, MoDo was diagnosed with cancer and had surgery just days before the event so she was not able to compete.  Still wanting to support MoDo, Marto is going to take the journey with MoDo through her recovery as her “Therapy Human” and have her back as her teammate! Fans can follow along Marto & MoDo’s journey on the Eagles' website.

Florida – Everblades' mascot Swampee and the Everbabes promo team visited the kids at the Foundations Early Learning Center in Cape Coral, Fla, on Sept. 24. Swampee and the Everbabes spent time dancing and playing games with the kids, and of course, taking many photos!

Missouri – The Mavericks were honored with the 2016 Corporate Citizen Award, recognized by the Truman Heartland Community Foundation at their ‘Toast To Our Towns’ Gala. At the Gala with over 700 attendees, Owner Lamar Hunt Jr and General Manager Brent Thiessen accepted the award on behalf of the organization. The Mavericks were selected for this honor as a result of nearly $300,000 contributed to community partners during the 2015-16 season, and 1,000 service hours volunteered by team personnel.

Tulsa – The Oilers were proud to support the Oral Roberts University Gold Rush Walk & 5K On Sept. 10.  It is a day to celebrate the local childhood cancer survivors and fighters as well as remember those lost.  There were lots of activities to partake in at the Walk & 5K and it provided a great opportunity to connect with families affected by childhood cancer.
