Allen, Texas – The Allen Americans, two-time Kelly Cup champions and ECHL affiliate of the San Jose Sharks, announced that the team has signed forward J.P. LaFontaine to a new deal for the 2016-17 season.
Lafontaine joined the Americans early last season, after being acquired in a trade with the Toledo Walleye. The native of Oxford, Mich. will begin his sophomore season of professional hockey after tallying 20 points (5g-15a) in 61 games last season as a rookie.
After one season of junior hockey with the Green Bay Gamblers of the United States Hockey League, Lafontaine played four years at Minnesota State University-Mankato, where he had 40 points (20g-20a) in the 2013-14 season, his best numbers in college.
