Dodero returns to Steelheads blue line

Boise, Idaho – Idaho Steelheads Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Neil Graham announced that defenseman Charlie Dodero has agreed to terms on a contract for the 2016-17 season.

The Steelheads are the ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League's Dallas Stars and the American Hockey League's Texas Stars.

Dodero is entering his fourth professional campaign. The Bloomingdale, Ill. native will be playing his second stint in Boise, having played 77 games for Idaho over parts of two seasons from 2013-15. With the Steelheads, Dodero scored 31 points (7g-24a) to go along with 156 penalty minutes. He added a five points (1g-4a) in 11 games during the 2014 Kelly Cup Playoffs.

Dodero spent the 2015-16 season split between the Greenville Swamp Rabbits and the American Hockey League’s Syracuse Crunch. In three professional seasons, Dodero has played 46 AHL games for Syracuse, recording five points (1g-4a), and 121 games in the ECHL for Greenville and Idaho where he has posted 40 points (9g-31a) and added 250 penalty minutes.

Prior to turning pro, Dodero spent four seasons in the Ontario Hockey League, appearing in 248 career games with the Kitchener Rangers and Sudbury Wolves, tallying 67 points (11g-56a). He served as assistant captain in Sudbury from 2011 to 2013.
