The ECHL announced on Thursday that the Indy Fuel have been selected as the 2016-17 recipient of the ECHL Social Media Award.
This award is presented to an ECHL Member Team who has exemplified the use of social media in the following categories; scope of team reach (how many forms of social media does the team utilize and number of followers), creative social content/campaigns, use of social media to achieve business goals and active engagement with fans.
The other finalists were the Brampton Beast, Colorado Eagles, Idaho Steelheads and Toledo Walleye.
The Fuel are among the league leaders in audience size, number of impressions and rate of engagement across Twitter, Instagram and Facebook. The team utilizes social interactions to drive interest in the Fuel among fans across the league, not just in market, and help to strengthen individual rivalries while bringing extra attention to games that might not be as relevant otherwise. They invite fans to share on social media with #Fuelify at each home game, and the hashtag trended in Indianapolis on several different occasions during the season.
