Elbrecht, Pauly rejoin Mavericks

INDEPENDENCE, Mo. - The Kansas City Mavericks  announced the signings of Tyler Elbrecht and Shawn Pauly for the 2017-18 season.

The Mavericks are the ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League's Calgary Flames and the American Hockey League's Stockton Heat.

Both players skated with the Mavericks in 2016-17 with Pauly spending the full season in Kansas City. Elbrecht played his first 47 games of the season with the Mavericks until he was traded to Manchester on Feb. 16.

Elbrecht has spent the previous four seasons in the ECHL after competing at Minnesota State - Mankato for his collegiate career. He tallied 14 points (4g-10a) in 47 games in Kansas City a year ago. The Edwardsville, Ill. native served as an alternate captain with Kansas City last season.

Pauly skated in 54 games for Kansas City in 2016-17 in his first professional season. He totaled 14 points (6g-8a) with 14 penalty minutes while playing an important role on the Mavericks' penalty kill unit.

The 25-year-old joined the Mavericks after a four-year career with the University of Connecticut, where he tallied 83 points (28g-55a) in four seasons with the Huskies. The Bellingham, Wash. native finished his career as an alternate captain for the Huskies as a senior.
