Steelheads add forward Brady Brassart

Boise, Idaho – Idaho Steelheads Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Neil Graham announced on Wednesday that the team has agreed to terms with forward Brady Brassart for the 2017-18 season.

The Steelheads are the ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League's Dallas Stars and the American Hockey League's Texas Stars.

Brassart is entering his fourth pro season after three years as a prospect of the Minnesota Wild. The North Vancouver, British Columbia native has played 213 professional games, spending the entire 2016-17 season in the ECHL with the Quad City Mallards and splitting time the prior two seasons between Quad City and AHL Iowa.

The 24-year-old put up his best offensive season last year with 43 points (14g-29a) in 65 games with Quad City, along with 81 penalty minutes.. Brassart also earned five assists in five playoff games. He finished the season with 12 points (4g-8a) over the final 14 games of the season.

In 93 ECHL games over the past two seasons with the Mallards, Brassart has totaled 60 points (20g-40a). 

Brassart signed an NHL contract with the Minnesota Wild in March of 2014 and joined AHL Iowa at the end of the 2013-14 season, following five seasons in the Western Hockey League. Brassart played the final nine games of the 2013-14 campaign in Iowa, as well as the entire 2014-15 season. In 120 AHL contests, Brassart earned 29 points (13g-16a).

In the WHL, Brassart played his first two seasons with the Spokane Chiefs and his final three with the Calgary Hitmen, totaling 269 points (112g-157a) and 373 penalty minutes in 323 junior games, as well as 23 points (13g-10a) in 44 playoff games. He was a WHL All-Star during the 2012-13 season in the Subway Super Series.
