Joe Cannata of the Utah Grizzlies is the CCM ECHL Goaltender of the Week for Oct. 12-14. It is the third time in his career that he has received the weekly honor.
The 28-year-old went 2-0-0 with a 2.02 goals-against average and a save percentage of .929 in two appearances against Rapid City last week.
A native of Wakefield, Massachusetts, Cannata turned aside 26 shots in a 4-2 win on Friday and made another 26 saves in a 6-2 victory on Saturday.
Under a National Hockey League contract with the Colorado Avalanche, Cannata has appeared in 61 career ECHL games with Utah, Colorado, South Carolina, Ontario and Kalamazoo posting an overall record of 41-15-4 with three shutouts, a 2.27 goals-against average and a save percentage of .925. He captured the 2018 Kelly Cup title with Colorado, going 16-7 with a 2.55 goals-against average and a .913 save percentage during the postseason. He also has 118 games of AHL experience with San Antonio, Hershey, Utica and Chicago where he is 55-41-10 with two shutouts, a 2.76 goals-against average and a save percentage of .903.
Prior to turning pro, Cannata spent four seasons at Merrimack College, where he went 59-46-16 with seven shutouts, a 2.47 goals-against average and a save percentage of .917 save-percentage.
