Verhaeghe makes NHL debut

Verhaeghe makes NHL debut

Former Missouri Mavericks' forward Carter Verhaeghe is the 664th former ECHL player to reach the NHL. Verhaeghe was +1 and posted one shot on goal for the Tampa Bay Lightning in a 5-2 win against Florida on Thursday, Oct. 3.

Verhaeghe is the second former ECHL player to make his NHL debut during the 2019-20 season. He tallied 25 points (8g-17a) in 20 games with the Mavericks during the 2015-16 season and posted 32 points (12g-20a) in 16 games with the club in 2016-17.

The 24-year-old has recorded 175 points (73g-102a) in 211 career games in the American Hockey League with Toronto, Bridgeport and Syracuse. Last season, he led the AHL in scoring with 82 points and was tied for the league lead with 34 goals in 76 games with Syracuse.
