Sean Bonar of the Atlanta Gladiators has been selected as the Warrior Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Month for January.
Bonar went 8-1-1 with two shutouts, a 1.45 goals-against average and a .954 save percentage in 11 appearances during the month.
The 27-year-old allowed two goals or less in seven of his 10 starts, and posted shutouts on Jan. 18 at Greenville and on Jan. 30 against the Swamp Rabbits. Bonar made at least 26 saves in seven appearances.
A native of Delta, British Columbia, Bonar has posted a 11-8-2 record in 22 appearances with the Gladiators this season. He ranks second in the ECHL with a 2.13 goals-against average, is tied for second with three shutouts and is tied for third with a .929 save percentage.
Bonar has seen action in 74 career ECHL games with Atlanta, Brampton, Fort Wayne, Wichita, Indy and Orlando compiling an overall record of 31-30-6 with six shutouts, a 2.66 goals-against average and a save percentage of .915. He also has 70 games of experience in the Southern Professional Hockey League with Fayetteville and Pensacola.
Prior to turning pro, Bonar appeared in 63 career games at Princeton University and 60 career games with Penticton of the British Columbia Hockey League.
