Martin Ouellette of the Utah Grizzlies has been selected as the Warrior Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Month for December.
Ouellette went 8-1-0 with one shutout, a 1.65 goals-against average and a .939 save percentage in nine appearances during the month.
The 28-year-old was acquired in a trade with Atlanta on Dec. 9, and won each of his eight starts with the Grizzlies, including a 19-save shutout in a 4-0 win against Newfoundland in his Utah debut on Dec. 13. Ouellette allowed two goals or less in seven of his eight appearances in December with the Grizzlies and made at least 27 saves four times.
A native of Saint-Hippolyte, Quebec, Ouellette is 12-6-0 overall in 18 appearances with Atlanta and Utah this season with one shutout, a 2.67 goals-against average and a save percentage of .904.
Ouellette has appeared in 179 career ECHL games with Utah, Atlanta, Orlando, Florida and Reading with an overall record of 112-51-12 with 11 shutouts, a 2.53 goals-against average and a save percentage of .912. He has also seen action in 27 career American Hockey League games with Syracuse and Lehigh Valley where he is 14-5-1 with two shutouts, a 2.15 goal-against average and a .930 save percentage.
Prior to turning pro, Ouellette played four seasons at the University of Maine, where he appeared in 82 career games and went 28-33-14 with seven shutouts, a 2.52 goals-against average and a save percentage of .913.
