Binnington is ECHL Alumnus of the Month

Former Kalamazoo Wings’ goaltender Jordan Binnington of the Kalamazoo Wings is the ECHL Alumnus of the Month for October.

The 28-year-old went 5-1-0 in six appearances in October with one shutout, a 2.52 goals-against average and a save percentage of .926. He made at least 29 saves in four of his six appearances and recorded his first shutout of the season on Oct. 30, making 25 saves in a 1-0 win over Chicago.

A native of Richmond Hill, Ontario, Binnington appeared in 40 games with K-Wings during the 2013-14 season going 23-13-3 with one shutout, a 2.35 goals-against average and a save percentage of .922.

Selected by the Blues in the third round (88th overall) of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, Binnington has appeared in 131 career games for the Blues posting an overall record of 77-33-16 with nine shutouts, a 2.43 goals-against average and a save percentage of .915.

There have been 704 players who have played in the NHL after playing in the ECHL including six who have made their debut in 2021-22. The ECHL has had 512 players reach the NHL since 2002-03 when it changed its focus to become the primary developmental league for the NHL and the AHL. The ECHL had 97 players reach the NHL in its first 10 seasons and 215 in the first 15 years. There have been 448 ECHL players who have played their first game in the last 17 seasons for an average of more than 26 per year.
