Wells makes NHL debut

Former Wichita Thunder and Norfolk Admirals' goaltender Dylan Wells became the 728th former ECHL player to reach the National Hockey League when he debuted with the Chicago Blackhawks on Saturday at Winnipeg, stopping all 12 shots he faced in 20 minutes of action.

Wells is the first former ECHL player to make his NHL debut during the 2022-23 season. He appeared in 76 career ECHL games with Wichita and Norfolk from 2017-22, posting an overall record of 33-33-5 with one shutout, a 3.65 goals-against average and a save percentage of .895.

A fifth-round selection (123rd overall) of the Edmonton Oilers in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft, Wells has gone 8-12-2 in 25 career American Hockey League appearances with Bakersfield, Chicago and Rockford with one shutout, a 3.24 goals-against average and a save percentage of .894.
