Adirondack adds Maggio

GLENS FALLS, N.Y. – The Adirondack Thunder, ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League's New Jersey Devils and American Hockey League's Utica Comets, announced that the club has signed defenseman Daniel Maggio to a contract for the 2022-23 season.

Maggio was selected by the New York Rangers in the sixth round (170th overall) of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft and last played in 11 games during the 2019-20 season with Herning Blue Fox in Denmark, recording one assist and 12 penalty minutes. The 31-year-old last played in the ECHL in 2018-19 with Norfolk when he posted nine points (2g-7a) and 94 penalty minutes in 31 games. Maggio also appeared in one game for the AHL’s Tucson Roadrunners that season.

The native of Windsor, Ontario has played in 153 regular-season ECHL games with Fort Wayne, Orlando and Norfolk, totaling 60 points (18g-42a) and 374 penalty minutes. He has also played in 174 regular-season AHL games with Bridgeport, Lake Erie, San Antonio, Toronto and Tucson collecting 16 points (4g-12a) and 665 penalty minutes.

Maggio was selected to the 2013 ECHL All-Star Game while with Fort Wayne.
