PORTLAND, Maine –The Maine Mariners announced the team has signed forward Brooklyn Kalmikov for the 2023-24 season.

In his rookie campaign with the Wheeling Nailers, Kalmikov registered 52 points (23g-29a) in 66 games. He finished second on the Nailers in points, tied for first in assists and ranked 12th among all ECHL rookie scorers. Kalmikov was on an American Hockey League deal with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton last season, skating in three games with the Penguins.

Kalmikov played in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League for five seasons from 2017-22, spending time with Cape Breton, Victoriaville and Moncton. He finished with a bang, putting up 72 points (34g-38a) in 62 games during his final season with Moncton. He also won a QMJHL championship with Victoriaville in 2021.

A native of St. John’s, Newfoundland, Kalmikov is the son of a former pro, Ukrainian-born forward Konstantin Kalmikov. Konstantin played nearly 400 career games between the ECHL and AHL and was the ECHL’s Plus Performer of the Year in 2001-02 when he finished +43 while playing for the Louisiana Ice Gators. He was a 1996 third round pick of the Toronto Maple Leafs.
