The Jacksonville Icemen are heading into the club’s second season. The team formerly known as the Evansville IceMen from 2010 to 2016, was relocated to Jacksonville in 2017 and began operations immediately. Jason Christie, the winningest coach in ECHL history was hired to lead the Icemen and an affiliation with the Winnipeg Jets (NHL) and the Manitoba Moose (AHL) soon followed.

Season one opened on October 14, 2017 to a sell-out crowd at Veterans Memorial Arena, just seven months after the ECHL approved the expansion team. The inaugural club would end up ranking fourth in overall attendance of out the 27-team ECHL, while President Bob Ohrablo was co-awarded the ECHL Executive if the Year Award.
