Houser named CCM/ECHL Goaltender of the Week

Michael Houser of the Fort Wayne Komets is the CCM ECHL Goaltender of the Week for Dec. 11-17. It is the second time this season and the third time in his career that he has received the weekly honor.

The 25-year-old went 2-0-0 with a 2.57 goals-against average and a save percentage of .931 last week.

A native of Youngstown, Ohio, Houser turned aside 31 shots in a 5-2 win against Indy on Friday and made 45 saves in a 5-2 victory over the Fuel on Saturday.

Under contract to Tucson of the American Hockey League, Houser has appeared in 19 games for the Komets this season posting a record of 11-5-2 with a 2.84 goals-against average and a save percentage of .904.

Houser has seen action in 117 career ECHL games with Fort Wayne, Cincinnati and Manchester going 65-39-10 with five shutouts, a 2.59 goals-against average and a save percentage of .916. He has also appeared in 72 career AHL games with Cleveland, Ontario and San Antonio posting a record of 32-26-4 with three shutouts, a 2.88 goals-against average and a save percentage of .901.

Prior to turning pro, Houser played three seasons with London of the Ontario Hockey League where he went 93-38-7 with seven shutouts, a 2.90 goals-against average and a save percentage of .912 while leading the Knights to the 2010 OHL title.
