Evansville signs defenseman Obermeyer

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The Evansville IceMen have agreed to terms with defenseman Jake Obermeyer for the 2012-13 season.


The IceMen are the ECHL affiliate of the Columbus Blue Jackets of the National Hockey League and the Springfield Falcons of the American Hockey League.


The 27-year-old Obermeyer enters his fourth pro season and his third with Evansville. Las t season, though limited to 36 games, he registered 11 points (3g-8a) and posted a +4 rating.


Originally acquired by the IceMen in a trade during the 2010-11 season, Obermeyer tallied 24 points (4g-20a) in 65 games with Rio Grande Valley and Evansville.


In his rookie season of 2009-10, Obermeyer posted 24 points (7g-17a) in 64 games with Amarillo of the Central Hockey League.


Prior to his pro career, Obermeyer played three seasons at Robert Morris University, scoring 12 points (3g-9a) in 61 games.
