Everblades acquire Henley from Fort Wayne

ESTERO, Fla. – Florida Everblades President and General Manager Craig Brush along with Head Coach Greg Poss announced Wednesday that the team has acquired defenseman
Brent Henley from the Fort Wayne Komets in exchange for future considerations.

The Everblades are the ECHL affiliate of the Carolina Hurricanes and Tampa Bay Lightning of the National Hockey League and the Charlotte Checkers and Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League.

Henley, 32, joins the Everblades having posted 10 points (1g-9a) and 145 penalty minutes in 42 games played with Fort Wayne this season. The 6-7, 250-pound blue liner went scoreless with nine penalty minutes in five games with the Lake Erie Monsters of the American Hockey League.

The 11-year pro led the Central Hockey League with a +29 and 201 penalty minutes while playing for Fort Wayne last season. Henley has appeared in 114 AHL games throughout his career, and has played in 223 ECHL contests since 2001. The Coquitlam, British Columbia native has totaled 76 points (11g-65a) and 1,999 penalty minutes during his 11-year career.
