Everblades add Cornell standout Sean Whitney

ESTERO, Fla. – Florida Everblades President and General Manager Craig Brush along with Head Coach Greg Poss announced Tuesday that the team has agreed to terms with Defenseman Sean Whitney for the 2012-13 season. 

 

The Everblades are the ECHL affiliate of the Carolina Hurricanes and Tampa Bay Lightning of the National Hockey League and the Charlotte Checkers and Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League.

 

Whitney, 23, is a graduate of Cornell University. Last season, the 6-4, 195-pound blue liner appeared in 35 games for Cornell posting 11 points, scoring two goals and adding nine assists.  The Scituate, Mass. native played in 101 games during his career with the Big Red, accumulating 30 points (7g-23a).

 

He is the younger brother of nine-year NHL veteran Ryan Whitney, who is currently playing for the Edmonton Oilers.
