Everblades Sign Rookies Bowers, Travis

ESTERO, Fla. – The Florida Everblades announced that they have signed rookie forwards Justin Bowers and Dan Travis.

The Everblades are the ECHL affiliate of the Carolina Hurricanes and the Florida Panthers of the National Hockey League and the Albany River Rats and the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League. The head coach of the Hurricanes is Peter Laviolette, who began his coaching career in the ECHL. Former ECHL player Jason Cipolla is the assistant coach for Rochester and former ECHL goaltender Bob Janosz is the team’s video, strength & conditioning and goaltending coach.

The 23-year-old Bowers has played the last two seasons at St. Thomas University where he had 68 points (29g-39a) and 56 penalty minutes in 56 games.

Selected in the fifth round (141st overall) by the Florida Panthers in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, the 25-year-old Travis has played the last two seasons for Quinnipiac University where he had 35 points (16g-19a) and 107 penalty minutes in 56 games.
