Falcons’ Moreland Announces Retirement

FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno Falcons announced that goaltender Jake Moreland has announced his retirement from professional hockey. Moreland has accepted a head coaching position with a bantam team in Minnesota.

The Falcons are the ECHL affiliate of the Chicago Blackhawks of the National Hockey League and the Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League.

The 29 year old played in the ECHL in four of his five professional seasons and was 74-45-20 with a 2.64 goals-against average and a .919 save percentage in 138 regular season games and was 4-4 with a 2.12 goals-against average and a .930 save percentage in eight Kelly Cup Playoff games with Atlantic City, Stockton and Fresno.

The Grand Forks, N.D. native played in the 2006 ECHL All-Star Game hosted by the Falcons and helped Atlantic City capture the Kelly Cup Championship in 2003.
