Farrer, 23, returns to the Nailers for his second season of professional hockey, as well as his second season with the club. Prior to turning pro, he played in parts of three seasons of junior hockey with the AJHL’s Calgary Canucks, on his way to attending Providence College, where he majored in management, while also playing hockey for four years. During his time with the Friars, the Calgary, Alberta native picked up five goals and 21 assists in 105 games.
At the conclusion of his collegiate career, Farrer appeared in one game for the Trenton Devils, before going to Wheeling for the 2011-12 campaign. Last season as a rookie, Farrer netted 11 goals and added eight assists for 19 points in 57 games, while earning a reputation for being one of the squad’s best penalty killers.
