Flames Assign Bellemare To Checkers

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Charlotte Checkers announced that right wing Thomas Bellemare has been assigned to the team by the Calgary Flames.

Selected in the seventh round (206th overall) in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, the 6-3 and 208-pound Bellemare is in his first professional season and has 82 penalty minutes and one assist in 29 games with Texas of the ECHL.

Bellemare, who turns 20 on Tuesday, had 15 points (7g-8a) and 655 penalty minutes in 127 regular season games during two seasons with Drummondville in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.
