Florida’s Curry Called Up To Providence,
Ward Called Up To Houston

ESTERO, Fla. – The Florida Everblades announced that defenseman Sean Curry has been called up by Providence of the American Hockey League and that forward Joel Ward has been called up to Houston of the AHL.

The 23-year-old Curry, who played for the Everblades in 2002-03, had nine points (2g-7a) and 103 penalty minutes in 61 regular season games and one assist and four penalty minutes in seven playoff games for Lowell in 2004-05. Selected in the seventh round (211th overall) by Carolina in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft, the 6-foot-5 and 227-pound Curry had seven points (1g-6a) and 77 penalty minutes in 32 games for Florida and two assists and 62 penalty minutes in 35 games with Lowell as a rookie in 2002-03.

The 25-year-old Ward played the past three seasons with the University of Prince Edward Island, scoring 38 points (14g-24a) in 27 games in 2004-05. He played eight playoff games with Long Beach in the now-defunct West Coast Hockey League in 2000-01.
