Former Bomber Ettinger Dead At 23

Trevor Ettinger, who played 66 games with Dayton of the ECHL in 2001-02 and 2002-03, died on Saturday at his family’s home in Nova Scotia. Ettinger was 23 years old.

Selected in the sixth round (159th overall) by Edmonton in the 1998 National Hockey League Entry Draft, the 6-5 and 225-pound defenseman scored three points (0g-3a) and had 335 penalty minutes with Dayton. Ettinger scored three points (1g-2a) and had 191 penalty minutes in 45 games with Syracuse of the American Hockey League in 2001-02 and 2002-03.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday in Nova Scotia. The Ettinger family has requested that donations be made to the East Hants Minor Hockey Association (c/o Hockey Nova Scotia, Suite 910, 6080 Young Street, Halifax, Nova Scotia B3K 2A2) or to an animal shelter or charity of choice.
