Former ECHL Center Colley Announces Retirement

NEW YORK – The New York Islanders of the National Hockey League announced that former ECHL center Kevin Colley told reporters on Friday that his playing career is over.

The 26-year-old suffered a fracture of the fifth cervical vertebrae in a game against Washington on Jan. 31 which required two surgeries.

Colley played parts of four seasons in the ECHL with Charlotte, Dayton, Pensacola, New Orleans and Atlantic City, and was named to the ECHL All-Star Game in 2002 and 2003. Colley has 177 points (83g-94a) and 472 penalty minutes in 166 career ECHL regular season games and 23 points (15g-8a) and 43 penalty minutes in 15 career ECHL playoff games.
