Former Trenton Coach Cassidy Joins Blackhawks

Bruce Cassidy was named an assistant coach with the Chicago Blackhawks on Wednesday becoming the ninth ECHL coach and second Trenton coach working behind the bench in the National Hockey League.

The first coach in Trenton history in 1999-2000, Cassidy began his coaching career in the ECHL with Jacksonville in 1996-98. Peter Horachek, who coached Trenton in 2001-02, is an assistant coach with Nashville.

The other ECHL coaches in the NHL are Peter Laviolette, head coach of Carolina; John Torchetti, head coach of Florida; Brian McCutcheon, assistant coach with Buffalo; Wayne Cashman, assistant coach with Boston; Charlie Huddy, assistant coach with Edmonton; Barry Smith, assistant coach with Vancouver; and Jim Playfair, assistant coach with Calgary. Jamie Kompon, who played in the ECHL from 1989-91, is the strength and conditioning coach for St. Louis.
