French, Mann Selected To
Coach In AHL All-Star Game

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The American Hockey League announced that former ECHL and current Hershey Bears head coach Mark French will lead the Canadian team at the 2010 Time Warner Cable AHL All-Star Classic. He will be joined on the bench by former ECHL coach and current Hershey assistant coach Troy Mann.

French, who was an assistant coach for the Canadian squad at the 2009 AHL All-Star Classic, earns the honor by virtue of Hershey capturing its record 10th Calder Cup championship. There were a record 15 former ECHL players on the Bears, who were coached by former ECHL player and coach Bob Woods. Woods is now an assistant coach with the Washington Capitals who are coached by former ECHL coach Bruce Boudreau. There have been 41 former ECHL players on the last three AHL winners and 59 former ECHL players on the last five champions.

The head coach whose team has the best winning percentage after Dec. 27 will be selected to lead the PlanetUSA All-Star team. The four contenders are Hamilton’s Guy Boucher, Manchester’s Mark Morris, Rochester’s Benoit Groulx and former Las Vegas Wranglers and current Texas head coach Glen Gulutzan.
