Fuel acquire, sign Bruneteau

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Indy Fuel announced that they have signed defenseman Nick Bruneteau after acquiring his ECHL rights in a trade with the Reading Royals.

The Fuel are the ECHL affiliate of the Chicago Blackhawks of the National Hockey League and the Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League.

A graduate of the University of Vermont, Bruneteau made his pro debut last season, appearing in five regular-season games and one postseason contest for Reading.

In four seasons of NCAA play from 2010-14 for Vermont, Bruneteau, 22, posted 58 points (9g-49a) along with 106 penalty minutes, in 144 career games. He joins former college teammates Peter Massar and Anders Franzon on the Fuel’s inaugural roster.

A native of Omaha, Neb., Bruneteau is no stranger to Indianapolis, as his brother Brett played for the USHL’s Indiana Ice during the 2007-08 season and his grandfather Ed and great-uncle Modere both played at the Indiana State Fairgrounds Coliseum with the Indianapolis Capitals of the AHL during the 1940’s before enjoying lengthy stints with the NHL’s Detroit Red Wings.
