Gabinet, Wathier Added To Idaho Roster

BOISE, Idaho – The Idaho Steelheads announced that they have signed Mike Gabinet and that rookie left wing Francis Wathier has been assigned to the team from the Iowa Stars of the American Hockey League.

The Steelheads are the ECHL affiliate of Iowa of the AHL and the Dallas Stars of the National Hockey League.

Selected in the eighth round (237th overall) by the Los Angeles Kings in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft, the 25-year-old Gabinet, who replaced teammate Jonathan Zion in the 2006 ECHL All-Star Game, attended training camp with the New York Rangers of the NHL and the Hartford Wolf Pack of the AHL. In his first professional season in North American in 2005-06, he had 14 points (2g-12a) in 22 games for Idaho and two assists in 18 games for Iowa.

Selected in the sixth round (185th overall) by Dallas in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, the 6-foot-3 and 220-pound Wathier had one assist and 26 penalty minutes in 11 games with Iowa in 2005-06.
