Gaul returns for third season with Stingrays

North Charleston, S.C. – The South Carolina Stingrays have signed forward Patrick Gaul, Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Spencer Carbery announced.

The Stingrays are the ECHL affiliate of the Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League and the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League.

Gaul, 24, finished fourth on the team in 2013-14 with 31 points, tied for third in assists (19) and first with 67 games played in a Stingrays uniform. The Pittsburgh, Pa. native joined the Stingrays midway through the 2012-13 season after beginning his professional career with the Mississippi RiverKings of the Southern Professional Hockey League. In 33 contests with the Stingrays, Gaul added 10 points (6g-4a) after recorded 20 points (10go-10a) in 31 games in Mississippi.

Prior to turning pro, the 5-foot-8, 175-pound forward attended Notre Dame for four seasons picking up 10 points (3g-7a) in 80 games and helping the Fighting Irish capture a CCHA Championship in 2008-09.
