EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The Evansville IceMen announced on Wednesday that the team has agreed to terms with defenseman Matt Gens for the 2012-13 season.
The IceMen are the ECHL affiliate of the Columbus Blue Jackets of the National Hockey League and the Springfield Falcons of the American Hockey League.
Gens will be entering his seventh pro campaign and his second in Evansville. In the 2011-12 season with the IceMen, the 29-year-old was named to the Central Hockey League All-Star Game, and led all league defensemen with 47 points (12g-35a) in 64 games.
Selected by the Vancouver Canucks in the ninth round (278th overall) of the 2002 NHL Entry Draft, Gens scored 22 points (3g-19a) in 35 games with the Elmira Jackals in 2007-08.
